In 2010, the TRIL Centre began to contact the original 625 patients who were assessed during the first stage of the project. We invited these patients back to our TRIL Clinic, and our recruiting nurse made an initial assessment of their health status by telephone. The data collected is added to existing records. These include information about falls since their previous visit, health service use, ability to perform activities of daily living and current medications.
Bespoke software was developed that enabled data entry from this telephone interview. The software supports interviews which are often not linear but rather conversational in nature. The TRIL Clinic nurse is able to freely move around the interview script and to enter free text and other patient observations. This is printed out in advance of the patient's visit to the Clinic.
